Purpose
To briefly describe the location and set up of the Christopher Center’s Reference Collection.
Description
The Reference Collection, including Print Journals, is located on the 2nd floor of the Christopher Center. The materials should be in LC Call Number order and books have red and white REFERENCE stickers on their spines. The materials in this section are for library use only and cannot be checked out to patrons.

Overview
1. The Reference Collection is located on the low shelves nearest the classrooms 261 A/B on the 2nd floor.
a. The shelving units are oriented from east to west.
b. The beginning of the collection is located in the far northeastern corner of the low shelving units.
c. The collection continues west toward the offices.
d. Once the end of the first shelving unit is reached (near the row of offices on the west side of the building), the collection continues in an eastward direction on the other side.
e. The serpentine pattern continues through the end of the collection.
2. The print journal collection begins on the low shelving unit immediately following the books.
a. The print journals are placed in plain brown boxes which are organized by LC Call Number.
b. The boxes have labels that display the LC Call Number.
3. Remaining law reference materials are interfiled as part of the reference collection, in LC Call Number order.
4. Maintenance
a. Circulation Student Assistants are essential to the maintenance of this collection.
b. Each semester, the Reference Collection is shelf-read and the shelves are dusted as described in the Shelf Reading Procedure.
c. Shifting projects are determined by the Stacks Maintenance Manager.
