Announcement Over PA System

Purpose:
The PA system is utilized twice daily to announce building closure. It can also be used to disseminate emergency and non-emergency information when necessary.
Overview:
The PA system can be accessed from any land-based telephone in the Christopher Center. Using the four (4) digit extension and two (2) digit passcode, building-wide announcements can be made.

Landline telephone in the Christopher Center
Procedure:
1. Lift the receiver of the telephone.
2. On the keypad, type the extension 7691.
3. Listen for a double beep in the receiver.
4. On the keypad, type 00.
5. Listen for a loud tone over the PA system.
6. Speak the information clearly into the receiver.
7. Hang up the receiver gently to avoid loud feedback over the PA system.
For any other non-library related announcements, only full-time staff department supervisors are authorized to make announcement requests. A written script should be provided (via email to Moe Circ) so that exact language is used as requested by the supervisor, usually no more than 2-3 sentences.
