Purpose:

There is an Epson DS 60000 scanner located in technical services.

Overview:

This scanner is used to complete ILL requests

1. For ILL:

a. Login to the computer attached to the Epson 60000 Scanner
(Username and Password are located on the foot of monitor):

i. Username: .\illstuaid

b. Open NAPS 2

c. Click the down carrot next to the scan icon and choose "Batch Scan"

i. Select "Multiple scans (prompt between scans)" and "Load images into NAPS 2"

d. Click the pencil to check the settings

i. Paper source is "Glass"

ii. If in Black & White: 400 dpi (typical usage)

iii. If in Color: 300 dpi Grayscale (350 dpi) for images that are tightly bound.

e. Scanning with NAPS 2

i. Once settings are checked, place document to be scanned face down on glass top, in upper left-hand corner

ii. Click on "Start" to scan the first page.  When scanning hold text firmly down against glass surface until scanner light has passed over
page. 

iii. Click "Scan" when when ready to scan each subsequent page

iv. Clock "Done" when finished scanning all pages

v. Close the Batch Scan window

f. Editing with NAPS 2

i. Select any/all pages to batch rotate

ii. Select 1st page to crop by double clicking on the page.  Select the 'crop' icon at the top and slide the blue tabs and click "OK"

iii. Use the green left and right arrows to move to the previous/next page.

iv. When cropping the next page, your page parameters from the previous page carry over, click "OK" to apply them or drag the blue tabs to make adjustments

v. After all pages have been cropped, close the preview by clicking on the 'X' on the top right of the screen.  NOT the red X.

g. Saving with NAPS 2

i. Click the down carrot next to the Save PDF icon and choose "All"

ii. Make sure location is set to Other -> CCLS -> ILL -> scans

iii. Name the file as the transaction number of the article on which you’re working.

iv. Make sure format is set to PDF and click Save
