Purpose

Returning personal items from a Reserve list once a Course Reserve has reached it end date

Overview

Items from the Course Reserve are removed from the Course list and the Reserve shelves and returned to their owner or Professor who placed them on reserve.

Equipment/Supplies

Campus Mail envelopes, Red bags, Paper Boxes, Course Reserve print out, Reserves Explanation Sheet, Personal Items to be returned, Online Directory, Sierra

Procedure

1. Gather all items to be returned to a professor into one location, including any book covers or dvd cases

2. Place items into appropriate Mailing container

             a. If using a Red bag, log into Sierra and check the bag out to the Professor to which the items belong.

3. Place an unmarked Course Reserve print out and a Reserve Explanation sheet (Found in a manila folder located by the boxes of Reserve Folders on the North wall of Circulation) into Mailing container

4. Look up Professor in the Online Directory (https://www.intra.valpo.edu/directory/) and address Campus Mail envelope correctly

             a. If the Professor's address cannot be found in the directory, look up their file in Sierra

             b. If using a Red bag write Professors name and campus address onto a slip of paper and place in the clear plastic window of Red bag

5. Place Campus Mailer into Campus Mail

6. FOR PHYSICS 141/142 RESERVES:

             a. Place items into an empty paper box

             b. Place an unmarked Course Reserve print out and a Reserve Explanation sheet (Found in a manila folder located by the boxes of Reserve Folders on the North wall of Circulation) into paper box

             c. Contact professor to make arrangements for items to picked up or delivered.
