Circulation ASRS toubleshooting FM area
Purpose: To handle some of the common issues experienced with the ASRS.
Overview: There are multiple issues involved with the operation of the software for the ASRS as well as the physical machines that make up the ASRS. Each has its own cause and solution which the managers should be aware of.
Required Knowledge/Skills: Dematic software, MADC software, Access to the Sdrive
Safety Issues/Precautions: Emergency stop or E Stop (will immediate stop the crane), Man in Aisle (will disable the crane from moving), Electrified line for cranes (supply the power to the cranes and should be treated as a high voltage danger), Ladder safety (use 2 hand to descend and ascend), and removing cranes from service on the upstairs computer to ensure that they will not be active
Equipment/Supplies: ASRS, ASRS workstations, Schooldude work order system, Back of house computers and cranes
Procedure:
Several error messages may occur while working with the ASRS. The primary messages you may see are: Misaligned load, Horizontal error, Horizontal EDM error, Communication error, Shuttle time out error, and Horizontal error
1. If a crane is not moving, it should be one several errors that can occur and can be reset..
a. HORIZONTAL EDM error and COMMUNICATION error will require the issue to be reset downstairs.
i. Obtain the key from the office closet and use it to open the ASRS access door on the 1st floor. S:CCLS\CIRCULATION& MEDIA\ADMIN\ADMINDOCUMETATION\KEYS pathway to file listing key number.
ii. Before descending the ladder, stop on the platform and listen for the crane to ensure you can safely enter the area on the main floor.
iii. After entering the ASRS back area, switch the key on the bins between the computer stations from RS232 to LOCAL to ensure the crane will not follow commands for requests.
iv. On the back of the mini server located on the bins between the cranes, turn the power off by using the power button,, wait 1 minute, then turn it back on.
v. Using one of the computer stations, click on the MADC icon to launch the program, S:CCLS\CIRCULATION& MEDIA\ADMIN\ADMINDOCUMETATION\ACCOUNTS pathway to file listing username & password.
vi. Use the arrows keys to navigate the tabs and menu options
vii. UNDER NO CONDITIONS SHOULD YOU EVER SELECT THE CONFIGURE TAB. THIS WILL DISABLE THE SYSTEM.
viii. Select MONITOR form the menu, select the tab ON
ix. Select EXERCISE, then SET UP EXERCISE, then MOVE DELAY, choose 1, and NUMBER OF PASSES choose 1. Press ESCAPE
x. To enable exercise, choose EXERCISE, then enter 2 times. This will start the exercise.
xi. When finished the message EXERCISE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY will appear.
xii. If the exercise does not complete successfully, use the following steps to reset:
xiii. COMMUMICATION ERROR AFTER POWER FAILURE-
xiv. Try resetting the system using steps 1i-x
I. If that fails to reset it, you will have to enter the aisle.
II. The ESTOP button will be turned on and RED, located on the box where the RS232 Key is located. Pull it out, it should turn GREEN.
III. Turn the key to MIA, man in aisle
IV. Remove the key and place it on the computer terminal desk. This will ensure that the crane will not move.
V. Locate the RED light on the crane in the aisle.
VI. Push the RESET button on the crane, this should cause the RED light on the crane to turn off.
VII. Exit the crane aisle, and return the key, and turn it to local.
VIII. Follow steps vi-ix f Ensure that the kick stop e stop was not engaged by hitting an object in its path. If it was engaged, pull the kick stop out to reset it.
IX. Follow steps from a viii above to run an exercise.

xv. Turn the Key back to RS232 from LOCAL to restore functionality for requests.
xvi. Return the key to the office closet.
b. SHUTTLE TIME OUT ERROR
i. Obtain the key from the office closet.
ii. log into the MADC program
iii. Click the DIAGNOSTICS tab, then FREE FORM ENTRY
iv. Enter KI in the command box.
v. Escape to exit.
vi. To test the system follow steps vi-ix from above step 1a viii-xiii
c. Once FM and/or IT have been called, the ASRS Call Log spreadsheet should be filled out. S: CCLS\ASRS\Call log is the pathway to the file.
i. Pertinent information including: date, time called, priority, problem description, resolution, and date/time resolved should be recorded for every instance FM or IT is called to work with the ASRS.
