Purpose:
The Circulation Desk Cash Register is the only cash transaction point in the building for Library Services and IT.
Overview:
Both the Library and IT use the Circulation Desk Cash Register for monetary transactions. Circulation staff and students collect money for various reasons between the two departments.

Casio SE-S800 Cash Register
Procedure:
1. The Casio SE-S800 cash register is located on the southern part of the Circulation Desk. It is the only cash transaction point
for Library Services and IT.
2. If the cash drawer gets stuck there is a drawer release lever located on the bottom toward the back of the Casio SE-S800 Cash
Register that will release the drawer.
3. To “Open” Casio SE-S800 Cash Register:
a. Retrieve the black bag labeled “Black” and change drawer from safe.
b. Take a cash register sheet from the wooden holder on the left side of the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register.
c. Count out bag and record on sheet.
d. Reset Casio SE-S800 Cash Register money to $56.10 (1 $10, 3 $5, 14 $1, 40 $.25, 50 $.50, 40 $.05, & 10 $.01) and place in Casio
SE-S800 Cash Register.
e. To turn on the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register use the black key on the blue keyring located in the top drawer beneath the Casio
SE-S800 Cash Register. Place the black key into the keyhole on the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register and turn it to the “REG” position.
f. Replace the key and the “Black” bag ” in the top drawer beneath the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register.
g. Place cash register sheet on the Day Circulation Managers desk.
h. Place extra money from the “Black” bag and change drawer in the blue bag in the safe.
4. To ring up a sale:
a. For guest printing:
i. Input the amount charged, but do not use the decimal button.
ii. Press the ‘Guest Printing’ department button among the middle set of buttons.
iii. Input the amount given, but do not use the decimal button.
iv. Press the “CA/AMT Tend” button to register the sale.
v. Retrieve any change needed for the transaction.
b. For patron cards:
i. Input the amount charged, but do not use the decimal button.
ii. Press the ‘Patron Card’ department button among the middle set of buttons.
iii. Input the amount given, but do not use the decimal button.
iv. Press the “CA/AMT Tend” button to register the sale.
v. Retrieve any change needed for the transaction.
c. For bills or fines:
i. Input the amount charged, but do not use the decimal button.
ii. Press the ‘Fines Replacement’ department button among the middle set of buttons.
iii. Input the amount given, but do not use the decimal button.
iv. Press the “CA/AMT Tend” button to register the sale.
v. Retrieve any change needed for the transaction.
d. For Print Quota Increases:
i. Input the amount charged, but do not use the decimal button.
ii. Press the ‘Print Outs’ department button among the middle set of buttons.
iii. Input the amount given, but do not use the decimal button.
iv. Press the “CA/AMT Tend” button to register the sale.
v. Retrieve any change needed for the transaction.
iv. Press the “CA/AMT Tend” button to register the sale.
v. Retrieve any change needed for the transaction.
5. To make change press the “Open” button on the left set of buttons.
6. To replace receipt printer paper:
a. Remove the printer cover on the top left side of the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register.
b. Open the platen arm by lifting up.
c. Making sure that the paper is being fed from the bottom of the roll, lower the roll into the space behind the printer.
d. Put the leading end of the paper over the printer.
e. Close the platen arm slowly until it locks into place.
f. Use the “Feed” key to feed up some paper.
g. Remove the take-up reel.
h. Remove the paper guide of the take-up reel.
i. Slide the leading end of the paper into the groove on the spindle of the take-up reel and wind it into the reel a few times.
j. Replace the paper guide of the take-up reel.
k. Place the take-up reel into place behind the printer and above the roll of paper.
l. Press the “Feed” key to take up any slack in the paper.
m. Replace the printer cover.
7. To “Zero Out” the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register and secure monies in the safe
a. Use the black key on the blue keyring located in the top drawer beneath the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register. Place the black key
into the keyhole on the Casio SE-S800 Cash Register and turn it to the “Z” position.
b. Press the button on the lower right-hand corner of the keypad labeled “CA/AMT Tend”.
c. Open the printer cover.
d. Press the “Feed” button to advance the paper. Tear when you reach the end of the printout.
e. Place print out and cash from the drawers into the black bag labeled “Black” located in the top drawer beneath the Casio SE-
S800 Cash Register.
f. Remove change drawer and set aside with “Black” bag.
g. Follow steps f-m of #6 to reset printer paper.
h. Place “Black” bag and change drawer inside of safe.
