Moving a single patron from study rooms best practices
A group is 2(or more) students, compared to an individual studying.
Manager considerations for groups:
• Group will not dictate which room they are put in, decision is that of manager based on size and available individual occupant study rooms.
• Before asking an individual to move, verify that there are no open rooms even if it isn’t on the groups preferred floor.
• There is no 30 minute window to wait for group members to arrive as there is for unattended items before removal.
Options for finding space. These are in no specific order:
• Consider offering alternatives (booth on 1st floor, study tables on 1st/2nd floor) to removing individual that group may not have considered.
• Ask single students if they would be willing to share study space with another single student to clear up a room for a group and ensure that the two single students would not be asked to move again.
• Ask if the single student would be willing to use an alcove table.
• If available, ask an individual in a smaller room to move for a smaller (2 person) group or ask an individual in a larger room to move for a larger (2 person +) group.
