Once you've created a Mathworks account and downloaded the MATLAB software, follow these instructions for installing the program on a personal computer.

Windows

These instructions are for the Windows installation process, though Mac and Linux installations will look nearly identical.

STEP 1

Launch the MATLAB installer you downloaded and associated with Valpo’s TAH license. It will extract to a temporary folder and then launch the installation interface. On Windows, this unzip operation will start automatically.

Once the files have been unzipped, the installer will launch automatically. When prompted to select an installation method, leave the default Log in with a MathWorks Account option selected.

STEP 2

Login with your Valpo e-mail address and the MathWorks password you set up. If you have not yet set up a MathWorks account, consult the MATLAB Download Instructions tutorial for help.



Accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.

On the next screen, the Select a license option will be highlighted. Ensure that the information listed matches the screenshot below, with the Individual - Students/Facstaff label selected.

NOTE: You may not see all of the options listed in the screenshot below.



You may see a "Confirm User" screen, where you will need to enter your first and last name, along with your Valpo e-mail address and click Next.

STEP 3

Choose your installation folder on the next screen. For most users, the default path C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2020a is fine.


The following screen lists all of the products we license and their corresponding versions. This includes the core MATLAB program, Simulink, and numerous toolboxes. It is not recommended that you uncheck any of these features, but if your computer is low on disk space and you are certain you will not use certain products, you may uncheck the ones you don’t need. The default MATLAB installation, along with all of the toolboxes Valpo licenses, is about 17GB in size.


STEP 4

Finally, choose whether to add a shortcut to the Desktop and whether to allow error reports to be sent to MathWorks. Note that a Desktop icon is not installed by default.


The final screen shows an installation summary. Click the Begin Install button to start the installation.
