FAQ - MATLAB

Below you will find a list of the most common questions students and faculty have regarding the University's Total Academic Headcount (TAH) license through Mathworks.

Question:
For what platforms is the MATLAB software available?

Answer:
The software is cross-platform, and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The download page lets you select the appropriate platform.

Question:
Are there any limitations to the personal MATLAB license offered through TAH?

Answer:
The software is the full version of MATLAB and includes all the same toolboxes you have available to you in labs. There are no restrictions based on code size or features.

Question:
How long do I have access to my personal MATLAB license?

Answer:
Your personal installation(s) of MATLAB will remain active as long as you are affiliated with the University. Every summer the IT department will deactivate accounts for students who have graduated or left the University.

Question:
Can I use MATLAB on my personal computer when I don’t have access to the internet?

Answer:
Yes! You don't need to have an active internet connection to run your MATLAB for individual software.

Question:
What if the toolbox I need is not included in the list that Valpo offers?

Answer:
If you need access to a toolbox that the University doesn't currently license, talk to the faculty member most closely associated with the work you are doing. If your need for it is temporary, we can get you access to a trial version of the toolbox in most cases. Should it turn into a long-term need, individual departments may decide to purchase additional toolboxes at the beginning of the academic year during our license renewal period.

Question:

Answer:
