Install Windows Updates

These instructions are for use in installing Windows software updates on your University-owned Windows computer.

Step-by-step guide

  1. From the Windows Start button, search for and then run Software Center.


  2. Click on the Installation Status tab from within Software Center.
  3. If there are pending updates scheduled to be installed, click the INSTALL button in the lower right corner. Software Center should then begin installing updates. This needs to be done for each individual update.
  4. Once all updates have been installed, you may need to restart your computer.


Does your laptop have Bitlocker?

If you have Bitlocker encryption software installed on your laptop, you may get a message about the software being temporarily disabled while the updates are applied. It will reactivate after the installation process is complete.
