Edit Office Files in Google Apps

Google has made a plug-in for the Chrome web browser to allow you to edit full Microsoft Office files within Google Apps. This is especially helpful on a device without Microsoft Office installed, such as a Chromebook.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open the Chrome Browser.
  2. Login to your Google account. Both personal and Valpo accounts will work.
  3. Visit the Chrome Web Store at this URL for the plug-in: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/office-editing-for-docs-s/gbkeegbaiigmenfmjfclcdgdpimamgkj
  4. Click the blue Add to Chrome button in the upper right.

  5. If you click on an email attachment or Microsoft Office file in Google Drive to open it, it will now open in a tab in your browser where you can make edits and save them.
