How to Export and Import Rubrics in Blackboard
You can share Blackboard rubrics among more than one course. If you already have rubrics in
one course and would like to use it in another course, you will need to export them out then
import them into the new course.
Step-by-step guide on how to export a rubric from a blackboard course:
Log into the course that has the rubrics.
Expand Course Tools in the Course Management section in the left pane.
Click on Rubrics. All of your rubrics should appear.
Check the boxes to the left of the Rubrics you wish to export.
Click on the Export button
Click Export to Local Computer.
Look at the bottom left of the screen; you will see a zip file. Click on it and the system will bring you to its location. Typically, it is the Downloads folder. You will need to now this for the import.
Step-by-step guide on how to import a rubric into a blackboard course:
- Log into the course that needs the new Rubrics.
- Expand Course Tools in the Course Management section in the left pane.
- Click Rubrics. All of your rubrics should appear.
- Click on Import Rubric
- Click the Browse My Computer button in the Rubric Import section. The Open dialog
box will appear. - Browse to the location of the Zip file then double click on it. Typically, it’s in the
Downloads folder. Your zip file will be listed in the Selected File section. - Click the Submit button.
- Verify that you receive the import log on your screen. Click OK at the bottom right of the
screen. Your Rubric should be listed.
NOTE: When you copy a course from another course your rubrics should copy over as well.
