Registrar Services and Estimated Processing Time

The list below explains the typical processing time for common Registrar Services. Please note that there may be delays during our peak times, such as the start of a new term or the end of a term. Please submit your forms and requests as early as possible to avoid delays.

Automated email notification, at the times of submission as well as processing, is included in the workflows of our electronic forms.

Email notification is also sent for each update to our service desk requests, which are created by emails sent to registrar@valpo.edu, degree.audit@valpo.edu, and registrar.transcripts@valpo.edu.

Transcript Services FAQ:

Most orders for electronically delivered transcripts are fulfilled the same day. Orders for paper transcripts are typically mailed by Parchment on the same day that the order is placed if the order is placed by 3:00 p.m. For records older than 1990, or students of the Law School, requests can take up to 10 additional business days.


Verification Services:

Please allow at least three to five business days from the date the request is received by the Office of the Registrar. Please resolve any outstanding obligations that prevent us from providing Registrar Services. If requested during peak times (such as the beginning of the semester, end of the semester, pre-registration period, and graduation season), your request may take longer.


Registration Services:

Please allow at least three to seven business days for advisor and faculty review, as well as Registrar processing, of forms regarding registration changes. Please resolve any outstanding obligations that prevent us from providing Registrar Services. If requested during peak times (such as the beginning of the semester, end of the semester, and the advising/registration period), your request may take longer.


Diploma Services:

Diplomas will be mailed to the address provided on the Diploma Request form in DataVU as soon as they are printed, no more than 30 days after the end of the semester.
Graduates receive an email from the Office of the Registrar when degrees have been posted to transcripts and diplomas have been printed.


Curriculum Change Requests:
Please allow at least two weeks for advisor and faculty review, as well as Registrar processing, of Curriculum Change Requests. If requested during peak times (such as the beginning of the semester, end of the semester, and the advising/registration period), your request may take longer. Submit your form early to avoid any registration delays for courses restricted to only students with a major or minor in an academic field. Please see the Academic Calendar for the deadlines for curriculum changes needed to facilitate registration.


Petitions for the Committee on Academic and Professional Standards (CAPS):
CAPS petitions are reviewed by the required advisor and members of the faculty before they are placed in a queue for the next CAPS meeting. This committee of faculty members meets on the first Monday monthly to decide on requests for exceptions to graduation requirements and requests for registration changes after the deadlines published in the Academic Calendar.


Proxy - Access for Parents and Guests:

Most requests for parent and guest access by students are handled online through Self-Service and takes just a few minutes. For requests that require additional support because of missing or duplicated information, please allow at least 5 days for research and processing.
