Customizing the Components in Simple Syllabus
With Simple Syllabus, you can customize the components that are designated as Editable. Components are the different sections in your syllabus template that were approved by the Valpo Dean’s Council. Some components are required and or cannot be changed and others you can have complete flexibility to be as creative as you wish. Customizing the components can give you the ability to be creative, warm up your syllabus, and make it more engaging for your students. You can use the formatting tools, and provide tools. To learn how to customize the components follow the instructions below.
Step-by-step guide
Open up your Simple Syllabus either through the valpo.simplesyllabus.com or through your Blackboard course.
To enter the Edit mode, Click the Edit Button at the top of the Simple Syllabus document screen.
Go to the component area you would like to customize.
Begin your customization by using the formatting toolbar to insert, copy/paste photos/graphics/shapes/web links, videos, tables or, add color.
While in Edit mode, hover your mouse over each tool to see a description of what each tool can do. Also notice the convenience of the un-do and re-do buttons.

Insert and format a table using the Insert Table button on the Formatting Toolbar.
Insert an image by using the Windows Snipping Tool to copy & pasting an image.
