Canceling an Academic Institution

Canceling an Academic Institution

Describes how to "cancel" an institution created in error, or not properly accredited.

Occasionally, the CAPS committee discovers that an institution is not properly accredited.  We must "cancel" the institution to prevent the University from accepting transcripts from the school.  Essentially, you are basically doing a manual de-duping, hiding it from appearing.

Steps:

  1. Query the ACAD.CREDENTIALS file for this institution to ensure that no one has student or alumni has a record for this school

  2. On UI form, INST detail on Organization Info to get to ORGP, change the name of the institution to University Unaccredited.

  3. On UI form, INST, change the Institution Type/Level to "TEST", delete the FICE  and CEEB codes to keep them from being picked up in the test score upload and keep students attached to the institution from bridging into Colleague from Slate.
(Students attached to an institution in Slate require the institution in Colleague to have a CEEB code in order to bridge into Colleague.)
