Classroom Technology Upgrades
This document contains information regarding classroom tech upgrades: what equipment is allocated to which type of space, how frequently it is replaced, and what determines whether we complete upgrade work in-house or bid it out to an AV integrator. It is not meant to be strictly prescriptive, but rather to provide general guidelines for how rooms are updated.
Typical classroom layout versus unique spaces
A so-called “typical classroom” space is one where the elements are consistent with other like spaces across campus: rows of chairs and/or tables, a lectern or technology cabinet with the instructor’s PC, and projector(s) and/or TV(s) for displaying content.
If a space deviates appreciably from this layout, it can be considered a “custom space”, where changes to our tech template may be required to accommodate its unique footprint or teaching needs.
Whenever possible, it is desirable to start with the typical classroom technology template and add/remove elements as needed, rather than starting from scratch.
