The purpose behind retention scores and score factors is to support advising. Using score factors:

• Maximizes the effectiveness of the resources we have
• Give us the ability to outreach to those most in need
• Reminds us to check on students in the “murky middle”
• Prompts us to nudge students to take the next step to completion
