Department: Electronic Services/ Web Site

Last updated: June 20, 2022

The Library maintains multiple web presences.  Here is a general overview of each site.

Main Site (library.valpo.edu): The files for the site are located here: S:\CCLS2\library .  Access to this folder is limited. We use Dreamweaver to edit files, and SFTP to upload changes.  See screenshot for Dreamweaver settings:

Catalog (https://galileo.valpo.edu/): These files are saved within the Sierra Desktop Application (SDA) and updated from there (Ruth keeps a backup of files on her H drive as well).  You must be passworded for the appropriate functions to make web changes. Below are screenshots for updating the staging server, but the same procedure applies for the live server:

Select the Web Master function, then Staging Web Server Screens.  Edit files as needed.  Once done, select the Web Options function pictured below, then open the staging file, then select restart to make those changes go live.

ILLiad (https://valpo.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/IVU): The files for this site are located on Ruth's H drive (H:\ILLIAD\illiad\testweb\) and pages are updated using Dreamweaver and uploaded using SFTP- here are the settings:

CONTENTdm (https://collections.valpo.edu/): Website updates are made through the CONTENTdm Administration site (https://server16682.contentdm.oclc.org/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe).  This excludes adding new digital objects; those are added using the CONTENTdm Project Client.  Administration site is used if you want to change the look of a collection's landing page, collection description text, etc.

Library Intranet (https://intra.valpo.edu/library/): Log into https://intra.valpo.edu/library/wp-login.php using LDAP (limited access). Once logged in, click on "Pages" (left hand side) and select the page you want to edit.  Once done, select "Preview Changes" button, and if the change looks correct, select "Update" button.
