Retain needed blueprints

Overview

Full blueprints are to be kept for existing buildings to act as back-ups for facilities management in case of loss in that building. Elevation views and floor plans are to be kept for buildings no longer in existence to show the visual building image and indicate the layout of the interior.

Required Knowledge/Skills

Ability to decipher what exists in the full blueprints that may have been changed in the building process – thereby no longer needed. Ability to determine the site elevation and floor plans within the blueprints to retain what is needed

Safety Issues/Precautions

Many blueprints have been taped and need to be loosened to adequately roll and store the prints.

Procedure: Blueprint Retention

Step 1: Identify the building represented by the plan or blueprint.

If unable to identify, set aside and ask for assistance.

Step 2: If building is no longer in existence, locate the site elevation and the floor plan pieces. All other blueprints or plans of this building should be placed in the recycle bin. Roll the site elevation and floor plan pieces together and identify the building on the outside of the roll.

If building still exists, separate out the site elevation and floor plans. After checking for duplicates and voided plans, bundle the remaining blueprints/plans into a roll and secure with cloth ties. Write the name(s) of the building on the outer edge of the roll. Separately roll the site elevation and floor plans into another roll and identify the building on the outside.

Step 3: Retrieve bin content list for blueprints, add to appropriate columns for full blueprints and for just site elevations and floor plans, photocopy the list, replace original list on board in 300A.

Step 4: Call up ASRS bin for blueprints, using barcode 35092007640366. Place the blueprints in the bin – inside the box when possible and desirable.

Step 5: Using Galileo Millennium, update the item record .i1821129x to reflect the additions.
