German House Collection

Polices for Collection and Use

9 July 2010

The German House contains a small collection of German language materials for use by its residents and German language classes taught on-site. This will be a collection of limited size. Use will be restricted to residents of the German House, or students taking German lessons in the German House. Use outside the German House requires permission from the German House
Director. We will not send books from this collection out on interlibrary loan

Purchases: Requests for purchases for the German House collection will come from the Director to the liaison for the Foreign Languages Department. Foreign Language funds will be used. We will try to avoid duplication with the regular collection.

Cataloging: The collection will have full records in Galileo, except that we will not assign classification numbers. This will allow us keep track what we own and avoid duplication. The collection will have holdings in OCLC. See Procedure: Cataloging Materials for the German House for details.

Processing: The books will be marked, barcoded and labeled, but will not have security strips. See Procedure: Cataloging Materials for the German House for details.
