INSTRUCTIONS FOR FACULTY:  Get to know Blackboard’s Base Navigation layout and some options for customizing your course using the Blackboard Help Center.

Blackboard Help Center includes step-by-step instructions, videos, and tutorials on a broad range of topics just for instructors.

Base Navigation for Blackboard Learn offers a new way to navigate and access your Blackboard Learn course content that will save you time and
help you stay on top of what’s most important. Base Navigation’s clean, personalized interface enables quick access to the information you need, the way you want it. It highlights what’s new and what’s due and offers valuable insights into performance— all without changing the course environment.

Institution Page: Find information about your institution.

Profile: Make changes to your online persona.

Activity Stream: See up-to-the-minute action for your courses.

Courses: Navigate to past, present, and future courses.

Organizations: Access the organizations you're a member of.

Calendar: View course events and due dates for your courses.

Grades: Check your grades for all courses.

Tools: Access global functions that are outside of a course such as portfolios or the Content Collection.

In Course View you can easily navigate, provide content, edit items, and change options that affect how users interact with the interface.

A. Course menu: Users' access point for all course content. You control which links appear on the course menu.

B. Control Panel: The area after the course menu is your access point for course management functions, such as course style, course tools, and users. Students don't see the Control Panel.

C. Student preview: You can review course content and validate course behaviors from a student's perspective. You're logged in with a student account—the preview user account—and enrolled in the current course.

E. Edit Mode: When Edit Mode is ON, all the instructor functions appear, such as Build Content or the appearance of menus. When Edit Mode is OFF, all instructor functions are hidden. The Edit Mode function appears to users with the role of instructor, teaching assistant, course builder, and administrator.

F. Functions: In one or more rows above the content, access page-level functions such as Build Content, Search, Delete, and Upload. The functions change based on where you are in your course.

G. Menus: An options icon appears for components with menus, such as content items, course menu links, or Grade Center columns. The options in the menu vary based on the component.
