Informer Report that includes Planned Courses & Sections
This report will return both the Courses planned, and if selected, the Sections that students have planned as well. Note that this does NOT reflect registration, just planning.
Report Name: DEGREE_PLAN_TERMS Future Term Courses & Sections Planned
This report currently selects from College of Arts & Sciences, please contact helpdesk@valpo.edu if you need it generated for a different college.
Click ‘Data’ to generate the report results
You will be prompted to enter the following:
Start Date for Term to review (on or after). Select the date from which you want to begin reviewing planned courses. For example, selecting August 1, 2025 will look for planned courses in any term that begins after August 1, 2025.
Sec Subject begins with - enter the subject code for sections (e.g. CVA)
Crs Subject begins with - enter the course code for courses you want to include (e.g. CVA - these will be the same)
You are entering both to be able to return both planned courses AND planned sections
Click ‘Launch Report’
After the report runs, click Export Results
Select 'Excel Comma-Separated Values (.csv)
On the next screen select ‘List by Comma’ for the category ‘Multivalue Handler’
Click Export
Open the file in Excel (it may open automatically)
Click File, Save As,
Select the location to save the File,
Save as Type choose: ‘Excel Workbook’
Click Save
You can now use the data to help your department plan.
One suggested tool for a summary is a Pivot Table
Click Insert, Select Pivot Table
The Table/Range should default to the full dataset
Choose New Worksheet
Click OK
