Using Modern Campus Catalog to Make Edits Directly
Valparaiso University uses Catalog (fka Acalog) and Curriculum (fka Curriculog) by Modern Campus for catalog and curriculum management on an annual cycle. Most edits are proposed by faculty and staff using Curriculum. Administrative staff members edit a few pages directly since they do not require internal governance oversight (Tuition and Fees, About Valpo, and University Personnel, for example). The following article describes the steps for making such edits.
Go to Catalog (https://valpo.acalogadmin.com - fka Acalog Publisher) and sign in.
To create a user account or reset a password, email the Valpo Admin for Modern Campus Catalog: Allison Urbanczyk.
For active accounts, the username is your Valpo email address.
Select a publication from the drop-down menu at the top of the first page and click the Go button.
After each catalog is published, it is locked, archived, and shared with external constituents, such as Veterans Affairs and accreditors. Only edit upcoming catalogs that have NOT yet been published and locked.
If the content you’re editing appears in more than one catalog (General and Graduate, for example), please update both documents for the sake of consistency.
Once you click the Go button, you’ll see a green banner confirming your selection. It’s important to pay attention to the document selection as you edit.
From the Catalog Content menu, select Gateway & Content.
From the Custom Pages tab, you can select a page to edit. In this example, we’ll edit the Tuition and Fees page.
Your options are likely narrowed to just the pages you need to make the selection quicker.
Note that you can view the status of the page(s) listed. Active-Hidden pages are available via a link within a catalog page. Active-Visible pages are shown on the navigation page on the side of every catalog page.
The Preview link lets you view the formatted page, as it will appear once the catalog is published.
Click on the Custom Page Name (Tuition and Fees in this example) to access your editing options.
From this page, you can see what the URL of the page will be after it’s published.
You can also view the status of the page, the creation date, and the last date on which it was modified.
On the Edit screen, scroll down to the Page Content field.
You can update content within the small field if you have minor edits. For a full-page view (useful for more significant changes), click on the Maximize button shown below.
In full-page view, you have access to the same WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get), but there is more space to work.
When finished, click the Save Editor Contents button before you click the Minimize button to collapse back to the smaller version of the Page Content field.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see Save Options. Choose “Save.” Click the Save button.
Use the Preview link between Edit and Version Auditing to open a pop-up window displaying the formatted page with your new content.
Proofread to make sure it all looks as expected. Once finished, sign out and close the browser window.
