Request a Full-Time Faculty Appointment Letter (CAS Beta Group Use Only)

Statement

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is beta testing the Full-Time Faculty Appointment Letter Request form to improve the faculty hiring process. Beginning Spring semester 2024, CAS Department Chairs or Search Committee Chairs will use the form to request an appointment letter. When the form is completed it will route automatically to the CAS Dean's office and go through a series of approval steps. Please continue reading for step-by-step instructions. These instructions apply to Department Chairs, Search Committee Chairs, CAS Dean, and the Office of the Provost.   

Step-by-step Guide 

1. Dept. Chair or Chair of Search Committee requests appointment letter by completing the Full-Time Faculty Appointment Letter Request form

2. Upon completion, submitter automatically receives confirmation email

3. The form routes to the CAS Dean   

4. CAS Dean reviews (approves/denies) the form before routing to the Office of the Provost.   

5. Submitter receives automated notice of approved/denied status. If denied, the submitter has opportunity to make changes/resubmit. 

6. "Approved" forms route to the Office of the Provost

7. Office of the Provost conducts final review and generates appointment letter. If minor changes need to be made, CAS Dean will access the entry in Machform and edit.
