DRAFT - Create a Plan of Study for Admitted Transfer Student

DRAFT - Create a Plan of Study for Admitted Transfer Student

This process is expected to begin July 2024

When a transfer student has been admitted to the University, and submitted transcripts of work completed or in-progress at another institution, the Enrollment Management team and Office of the Registrar will collaborate to create a transfer credit evaluation for the student. Once this evaluation is complete, Department Chairs or their designees are asked to create an initial Plan of Study for the student to aid in their decision to attend Valpo.

  1. When the transfer evaluation is complete, you will receive a notification from Slate that a student is ready for your review. The message will look like this…. and include a link to Slate where the documents reside.

  2. Log in to Slate

    1. Slate Reader is easy to navigate using your mouse. If you left click on the documents, you can drag them left or right. If for some reason you can’t, on the bottom left of the screen you will see two icons. The icon on the left allows for movement and the icon on the right freezes the screen. You may need to click one of these.

  3. Review the student’s TRER, EVAL/PRSP and TES report (in-progress courses) of their selected program of study. Please Note - the Advising Notes section has information about the student such as a double major, specific concentration, minor, or other special circumstances.

  4. Create a Plan of Study for the student to complete their degree at Valpo.

  5. Email the Plan of Study to transfer@valpo.edu

  6. The Transfer Admissions Team will upload the plan to Slate, and email a copy to the student for review.
