How To Enroll in Valpo Benefits
The benefits you select become effective on the first day of the month following your date of hire. You must complete your benefit enrollment within 30 days after your date of hire. Example: Your date of hire is 6/10/26. You must enroll for benefits by 7/10/26. Your elected benefits become effective 7/1/26.

To enroll, please visit Employee Self Service: https://apps2.valpo.edu/datavu/
In the Employee Window, select Benefit Enrollment.
Sign in with your Valpo Google email account.
You will be directed to the Benefit Enrollment Portal.
Please have birth dates and social security numbers available for yourself and any dependents you wish to enroll for coverage.
Add any dependents you wish to enroll for coverage.
Make your benefit selections by coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA Contribution, FSA contribution, & Life Insurance.
If electing life insurance be sure to name your beneficiaries.
Confirm your selections.
Once you confirm your selections you will be enrolled for coverage and your employee payroll contributions will be automatically deducted from your paycheck.
You will receive ID cards from benefit plan carriers within 7-10 days.
You are automatically enrolled in the 403(b)-retirement plan with TIAA at a 4% employee contribution and you will receive the University’s maximum 6% contribution to your retirement plan. TIAA will mail your retirement contract and a welcome packet to your residential address. If you would like to change your contribution amount, withdraw from the plan, or if you have any questions, you can logon to the TIAA/Valparaiso University micro website at http://www.TIAA.org/valpo , or call TIAA at 800-842-2273.
If you miss your 30-day benefit enrollment window, the next time to enroll is during the annual benefits open enrollment period, typically held in November, or if you have a Qualifying Life Event, such as marriage, divorce, birth of adoption of a child, you and/or your dependents become eligible or lose other coverage, spouse’s open enrollment or a change in work status (part-time to full-time). You must enroll within 30 days of a qualifying life event.
