Overview: Moellering Collection
Purpose: To briefly describe the location and set up of the Christopher Center’s Moellering Collection.
Overview: The Moellering Collection, or general collection, is located on the 3rd and 4th floor of the Christopher Center. The materials should be in order based on the Library of Congress Classification system. These materials can be checked out to patrons.

Overview:
1. The Moellering (general) Collection is located on the tall shelves on the 3rd and 4th floor.
a. The shelving units are oriented from east to west.
b. The beginning of the collection is located in the far northeastern corner of the
c. The collection continues west toward the Collaboration Rooms.
d. Once the end of the first shelving unit is reached (near the Collaboration Rooms on the west side of the building),
the collection continues in an eastward direction immediately on the other side of that same shelving unit.
e. When the end of that shelving unit is reached (on the east side of the building nearest main stairwell),
the pattern continues in the upper left corner of the next shelving unit and continues westward.
f. This serpentine pattern continues through the end of the collection.
2. Maintenance
a. Circulation Student Assistants are essential to the maintenance of this collection.
b. Each semester, the Moellering (general) Collection should be shelf-read and the shelves should be dusted as
described in the Shelf Reading Procedure.
c. Shifting projects are determined by the Stacks Maintenance Manager.
3. A current diagram of the ranges for the Moellering (general) Collection can be found in the Shared drive at:

a. The documents are titled: “3rd Floor Stacks Diagram” and “4th Floor Stacks Diagram”.
b. They can be edited as necessary.
