Procedure: Adding Items into the ASRS

30 July 2009

Purpose: This procedure describes how to put items into the ASRS

Required Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Millennium Cataloging Software

Equipment/Supplies: PC with network connection, Millennium Cataloging Software.

Procedure

Step 1: Remove all location stickers and tape (ex: Reference) and cross out any “non-circulating” stamps.

Step 2: With a black magic marker, write the last 5 digits of the barcode on top of the book or on a acid-free strip if the book is to be transferred from Archives to the ASRS.

Step 3: Open Mil Cat. In the item record, make sure the status of the item is for available and not o for library use only. Make sure you close out of the record (if you do not, the record will not be added to the ASRS).

Step 4: Open Millennium Circulation, click on ASRS mode on the left toolbar.

Step 5: Under the Add/Remove section of the screen, make sure the radio button is on “Add items to ASRS location” and the drop down menu is on cars1.

Step 6: Change Source tab to “Scan”.

Step 7: Scan barcode of item you wish to be added to the ASRS. You should then see confirmation that the item was added.
