Classroom Technology

Technology Cart

Standard technology cart with desktop computer 

  • PC with Windows 10, Office 2019 and SPSS 25.
  • Internal DVD player with VLC Media Player software.
  • Webcam with microphone
  • Projection (projector or flat-screen TV)
  • External speakers
  • Many carts include a document camera
  • a few carts include an external DVD player 

Webcam

IT is working to add webcams to classrooms based on classroom priority and availability of equipment. These will be standard webcams that can be used if virtual meetings are needed in the class.


Technology for Virtual Meets and Recordings    

Zoom

  • This virtual meeting space requires a passcode for entrance into the virtual classroom to ensure security.
  • The University has purchased a license for this platform. If you need an account please visit valpo-edu.zoom.us >Sign In > Sign in via SSO. Use valpo-edu for the domain.
  • Ability to record your session to the cloud, if desired.
  • Zoom can be integrated with Blackboard. Here’s how.
    • Please be sure to have your Zoom account activated before trying to use the integration option within Blackboard.

Google Meet

  • Virtual Meeting space available to Valpo users. https://meet.google.com 
    • Please note: Recording capability will be unavailable in September due to changes being made by Google. 

Screencast- O-Matic

OneButton Studio

    • Located on the bottom floor of the CCLIR, this small recording studio will allow you to record and save a presentation to a local USB drive.  The room even features a green screen for all of your creative needs.

Remote Labs

  • Access campus software from home through our remote labs option. Use this option to log into a campus computer that has specific software downloaded on it. Computers from ASB 236, GEM 160,  and URH 119 are available through this option.
    • ASB 236 - SPSS 25, SAS 9.2, RStudio, NetBeans, Java Development Kit, Wireshark 
    • GEM 160 - Maple for calculus; Civil3D, RISA, and Vissim/Visum/Vistro for Civil Engineering; and SolidWorks and Inventor Pro
    • URH 119 - SPSS 25, SAPGUI

LinkedIn Learning

  • Find videos that connect to or enhance classroom topics and skills. Add content to course work for additional discussion topics or direct students to this resource to explore new skills related to topics being discussed in class.
  • This resource is free and available to all Valpo community members by logging into their Gmail account and opening the Google Apps.


Requesting Personal Microphones or Other Specific Equipment/Technologies

In order to streamline requests- Contact your Dean.

  • After the Dean has given approval, submit a ticket with IT via email at helpdesk@valpo.edu
    • *Please note that there are high demands for technical equipment and quantities may not be available. IT will do the best they can to obtain equipment.
