- SilkRoad RedCarpet is Valparaiso University’s online on-boarding software that potential onboarding software. Potential employees use it to complete all required paperwork needed to complete the hiring process.
- When a potential employee accepts a job offer, a SilkRoad RedCarpet account will be created for the potential employee, and an on-boarding onboarding event will be launched.
- The potential employee will receive an email from Valparaiso University RedCarpetMailer@silkroadtech.com.
- The email will include their username , and password , and a link to log into SilkRoad RedCarpet to complete their on-boarding onboarding paperwork.
- SilkRoad RedCarpet On-boarding Onboarding Tasks:
- Updated and validate your information
- Complete the employee data sheet
- Complete the direct deposit form
- Complete W4
- Complete the Indiana state tax form
- Multiple policy acknowledgement acknowledgment form
- Complete form I-9 section 1
- Bring supporting I-9 documentation to the Office of Human Resource Services
- Employee The employee must provide I-9 documents within 3 business days of the first day of employment
RedCarpet On-boarding Onboarding Requirements
The employee will need the following information/documents to complete RedCarpet on-boardingonboarding:
- Full legal name
- Email address
- Home address
- Phone number
- Social security number
- Date of birth
- Supporting I-9 documents, please note the following:
- Link to list of acceptable I-9 documents: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents.
- Employee Employees may choose a document from List A or may bring two documents, one from List B & one from List C.
- Please note some List A documents require additional supplemental documents as denoted on the list.
- All documents must be originals (no copies)
- All documents must be unexpired.
- Documents must be presented in person to the Office of Human Resource Services located in Kretzmann Hall, or you may schedule an online meeting at https://humanresources-0.youcanbook.me . A copy of the ID(s) you will be presenting must be emailed BEFORE the meeting to Human.Resources@valpo.edu. During the video meeting, you will need to show your documents to the HR representative.
- Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5-noon and 1 pm–4:00 pm
Potential employees must complete their SilkRoad RedCarpet on-boarding onboarding tasks before they can be hired. New hires may not start working on campus until the hiring process is complete. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring their employees employee's RedCarpet progress and ensuring it is complete, along with the hiring process, before allowing the employee to start working.

- The employee’s supervisor (as listed on the hiring paperwork) will be denoted as their “manager” in SilkRoad RedCarpet.
- When a manger manager logs into RedCarpet, the screen will look similar to the image below:

- The “Employees” tab lists all employees who are assigned to you.
- Employees are listed based on the status of their on-boarding onboarding tasks
- Employees with overdue tasks are listed first
- Employees with tasks approaching their due date are listed as second
- Employees with all tasks on time are listed last
- Employees are listed based on the status of their on-boarding onboarding tasks
- You can click on an individual’s name to open up their on-boarding event to see more detailed information.
- Detailed on-boarding onboarding event information includes:
- List of complete and incomplete tasks
- Due date(s) for each task
- Assignee for each task
If you need help with any a specific area /or tab on SilkRoad RedCarpet, you simply click on the area /tab for which you need help, or tab and then click on the help button on the left-hand side of the screen. A help screen for that area /or tab will appear.
