Millennium Create Lists

17 December 2010; updated October 2019

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to explain key issues and local practices for using Millennium Sierra Create Lists. For step-by-step directions, see the Millennium User Manual at #100665Sierra Guide: Creating Lists (Review Files) and How Create Lists Works.

Overview: Millennium  Sierra Create Lists function has many, many uses. The option is available in every Millennium module. It can be found under most/all Functions (top right pull down menu: Circulation, Serials, Acquisitions, Administration, etc.) Because so many staff in both libraries use this function, and because only 80 lists can be saved, it is important for everyone to review their lists regularly and delete any that are not truly needed.

Passwording: To use this function, you must be passworded for function 18. Not everyone who is passworded to create lists is passworded to “own” them (function 186). That option is usually reserved for system administrators.

List naming conventions: All lists should begin with one of the following codes: • CLR

•CLR, for lists of only Christopher Center records.

• Law•Law, for list of only Law Library records. • MULTI

•MULTI, for lists of records from both libraries.

• AE•AE, for lists needed to do authority work. (AE stands for Authority Express, our authority work vendors name for our level of service.)

Lists created without this naming convention may be deleted without notification by the “List Police.” (We try to be nice about it and notify.)
