Procedure:

Interlibrary Loan Circulation Responsibilities

• ILL staff will bring ILL items being loaned to VU patrons to the Circulation Desk, and Circulation will alphabetize those items by patron last name and shelve in the appropriate area at the front Circulation Desk area to await VU patron pick-up.

• Circulation department staff will check VU patrons’ ILL items in and out to patrons via the ILLiad webpage bookmarked on Circulation computers.

• Circulation department staff will pull ASRS items requested by ILL and have them waiting on the designated ILL shelf in the ASRS area.

• When VU items loaned to other libraries are returned, ILL staff will check those items into ILLiad and then deliver them to the Circulation Desk to be checked into the VU catalog by Circulation department staff.

...

As needed, the ILL department will provide Circulation with article citations requested for scanning.

...

After ILL provides Circulation with the transaction information, the Circulation department will pull the appropriate periodicals/books/microform and scan the needed

...

pieces, saving them to the

...

appropriate transaction number range within S:\CCLS\ILL\scans.  Once scanned, notify ILL (at ill@valpo.edu) that the scans are ready.

• If an item goes missing while at Circulation (either after returned while “in transit” to ILL or before checked out to a patron), Circulation will help track down that item.

• There may be other issues that arise that will call for cooperation, but this is a basic list.
